Reference design
Agent-run mosquito fogging: a ZenSched reference design
The HOA board emails Friday: which blocks did you fog Thursday, and what did you put down? Your paper spray log is in the truck. The health-office supervisor wants a trail they can forward, not a WhatsApp “Harbor Court done.” What if an AI assistant could schedule Thursday’s circuit block by block, GPS-check the crew in and out of each street segment, capture a Fog Record with chemical and a tank photo, and tell you which blocks were missed — without putting gate codes or license numbers into a vendor cloud, and without pretending to be your FIFRA or Form H pesticide book?
This reference design shows how a 1–4 truck mosquito fogging shop (HOA loops, hotel zones, kampung circuits, municipal subcontract) can deploy an AI agent using ZenSched as the live night of record (with a Fog Record on the phone) and a local SQLite database for contracts, blocks, cadence, chemical extracts, and invoices.
Honest framing: block trail, not the official pesticide log
Read this before you clone the kit.
- ZenSched is not an official FIFRA / 7 CFR 110 record, Florida 5E-13 / FDACS-13652 filing, Malaysia Form H, or NEA / DOH pesticide book. The Fog Record is proof-of-treatment for the HOA, hotel FM, or health-office supervisor — not what you hand an FDACS or municipality auditor as the legal log.
- It is not FieldSeeker ULV. There is no nozzle-on spray-path GIS, no restricted-area sprayer geofence. The night’s trail is an ordered sequence of geofenced punches at block pins. Keep FieldSeeker if that is your district system of record.
- It is not FieldRoutes, GorillaDesk, or Mosquito Joe franchise CRM. Those win on quotes, routing, and recurring billing. ZenSched wins when block-by-block GPS + a chemical-style log is what the contract owner wants to see.
- Gate codes, no-spray house notes, and applicator license numbers stay only in local SQLite. ZenSched locations use block code + street —
Oak Loop - 1200 Oak Loop— never the HOA or hotel name. - Spray photos go to ZenSched (US-hosted). SE Asia and Gulf owners price in local currency; meters are USD on Stripe — say that in every sales touch.
- No signature field on purpose. On ZenSched a signature replaces Submit.
- Android on Google Play; iOS on App Store. Florida crews skew iPhone; SE Asia and Gulf skew Android.
The kit’s SKILL.md makes that split a hard rule the AI will refuse to break.
The problem: skipped blocks and reconstructed nights
Independent fogging crews already have a stack: FieldRoutes or GorillaDesk if they also run pest routes, plus a paper chemical notebook, a highlighted map, WhatsApp status, and Google Maps. The nightly loop is the same whether one ULV truck hits twenty blocks or three crews split a dengue circuit:
- Did the truck hit every block on the circuit — not reconstruct from texts at 22:00?
- What product, rate, and amount went down, with something the board can forward?
- Pay crews per block without rebuilding Friday from a paper map.
- Cover wind nights and down trucks without losing the tender slot.
- Answer “show me Harbor Court last Thursday” with punch times, not a story.
Not on that list: district GIS seats, Mosquito Joe door-to-door funnels, or resident booking widgets.
The solution: split responsibility between ZenSched and local data
- ZenSched: Live pin per block (street segment, zone, kampung loop), GPS-verified check-in and check-out on each fog shift (geofence enforced via policy), crew app + push, Fog Record (chemical, gallons, spray photo). Events roll every 60 days per block; the kit handles renewal locally.
- Local SQLite database: Contracts and per-block fees, blocks with access and no-spray notes, cadence and next fog dates, technicians and license numbers, visit summaries and chemical-log extracts, invoices. Links to ZenSched location, event, shift, and submission IDs.
The agent orchestrates both: it reads due blocks from SQLite, creates tonight’s shifts on ZenSched, and writes verified punches plus Fog Record answers back for the trail and the invoice.
Privacy: access notes and licenses never cross
The street address and block pin have to go to ZenSched so the geofence works. Gate codes, residents-only notes, no-spray bee houses, and applicator license numbers stay in local tables. If you ask the agent to put a code in a ZenSched field, it should refuse.
Day-to-day workflow
- You to agent (plain English): “Add Harbor Isles HOA, twelve blocks on Harbor Court and Palmetto Loop, weekly ULV Thursday nights.”
- Agent writes SQLite: Upserts contract and blocks, keeps no-spray notes local, geocodes new block pins once.
- Agent creates the night on ZenSched: One event per block (≤60 days),
shift_createfor each block window, Fog Record assigned. - The crew does the work: GPS check-in on the block, Fog Record (chemical, gallons, spray photo), check out; next block.
- Pull results: “Show Thursday’s trail.” Agent lists ordered punches and form reads (metered once), saves summaries locally.
- Money: “Which blocks were missed?” and “Draft the HOA invoice.” Plain-text invoice — official FIFRA / FDACS / Form H filing stays in your binder or FieldSeeker.
No dashboards. No asking you to run SQL. Talk to the agent.
Fog Record on the phone
The crew opens the ZenSched mobile app, checks in on the block, then fills the Fog Record before leaving:
- Chemical (from the kit’s example list)
- Gallons applied
- Spray photo (tank or label)
No signature. Official EPA / state / ministry filing still happens in the compliance binder or district software you already use.
Setup summary
Getting started takes about 15 minutes:
- Install an MCP client: Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Muse Code.
- Connect ZenSched MCP: Add
https://mcp.zensched.com/mcpto your MCP config. - Connect easy-sqlite-mcp: Point
SQLITE_PATHat a localmosquito.dbon an encrypted, backed-up folder. - Paste the reference skill: The zensched-mosquito-kit includes
SKILL.md,schema.sql, and a quickstart. Load the schema once (one statement per execute). - Create your ZenSched account: Call
zensched_guide, thenaccount_createfor azsc_key. Invite crew at $0.25 each once. - Fund when needed: Metered GPS, geocode, and form reads draw from prepaid balance. The $5 activation deposit is credited to your account.
Long HOA grids and camp perimeters need a wider policy radius (policy_update, 150–250 m is typical) — not org-wide remote_checkin for every tight suburban block.
Worker app: Android on Google Play and iOS on the App Store.
For step-by-step details, see the ZenSched quickstart and the mosquito kit.
Metering: what you pay for
ZenSched uses transparent per-action pricing (see pricing):
- GPS check-in/check-out: $0.10 each (about $0.20 per block visit)
- Address geocoding: $0.03 per new block (once)
- Worker invite: $0.25 per crew member (once)
- Form submission reads: $0.05 basic / $0.15 with photos — read once, cache locally
Worked example from the vertical pitch: 3 crews × 20 blocks/night × 16 nights ≈ 960 block-visits/month, GPS punch in and out on every block plus one photo Fog Record per crew-night (recommended pattern).
| Pattern | Approx. monthly | Per block |
|---|---|---|
| GPS trail + nightly photo log (recommended) | about $199 | about $0.21 |
| GPS only | about $192 | about $0.20 |
| Photo Fog Record on every block | about $336 | about $0.35 |
Read the incumbent comparison honestly. At 960 blocks, the recommended pattern (~$199) is a dead heat with GorillaDesk Pro / Jobber Connect — but those include quotes and routing ZenSched does not. FieldSeeker wins spray-path GIS for districts. The case is enforced block GPS + AI dispatch, not a discount office seat.
What you get
- Geofenced check-in and check-out per block (the night’s trail)
- Fog Record: chemical, gallons, spray photo
- Local contract book with cadence and per-block fees
- Chemical-log extract for your files
- AI dispatch from plain English
- Pay per block, no seats
What you don’t get
- No official FIFRA / FDACS / Form H pesticide log
- No ULV spray-path GIS
- No quotes, card billing, or branded PDF invoices
- No route optimization or resident portal
- Not a replacement for FieldSeeker on a district contract
Who this is for
Ideal for: Independent HOA / hotel / kampung fogging shops, 1–4 truck crews on WhatsApp dispatch, owners who need a block trail the board or health office can read.
Not for: Mosquito Joe / FieldRoutes franchise lock-in, Florida mosquito-control districts on FieldSeeker, or shops whose only job is a certified CRM PDF from Radalink-style hardware.
